Current account banking services are now available in post offices across Cork, following the launch of the new Postbank Everyday account.

The new current account will bring day-to-day banking closer to customers, with 36 branches throughout the county now offering simple straightforward and easily accessible banking. The Postbank service is available on Saturday and also online at all times.

In addition to being accessible at post offices across Cork, it is also available at more than 270 participating post offices nationwide, making it one of Ireland’s largest retail banking networks.

The new account offers free banking on everyday transactions, without conditions or hidden penalties. The account includes an internationally accepted ATM/debit card and access to overdraft facilities. Customers can carry out their everyday transactions in the post office, at ATMs and shops displaying the Maestro symbol.

There is also a savings option offering a variable interest rate of 3.3 per cent with no fixed terms, no fees and charges, and no penalties to withdraw from the account.

Commenting on the introduction of the service Mr Finbarr of the GPO in Cork said, “ The Post Office is based on providing services to customers in their community. Our service has expanded over the last number of years to try to reflect the needs of our customers.”
