Deloitte, in association with Bank of Scotland (Ireland), are calling on all Irish owned, managed and controlled companies to submit their applications for this year’s Best Managed Company Awards programme by the deadline Friday, July 3. The awards, which are open to companies from all 32 counties on the island of Ireland, offer benefits to all companies entering the Best Managed Companies Awards programme. Valuable insights into the ingredients for long-term success of their business will be available to all applicants - and those who progress through the awards process will receive customised feedback from Deloitte and Bank of Scotland (Ireland), thereby benefiting from experienced business acumen and expertise within both the professional services and banking sectors. Paul Cunningham, Head of Banking, Bank of Scotland (Ireland), added, “Ireland is rich in entrepreneurial talent and we at Bank of Scotland are delighted to be in a position to recognise and reward that talent. Last year’s winners represented the best in Irish companies and this year we would hope to emulate their success by awarding those Irish businesses who are demonstrating best practice and maximising on what they can achieve in the current climate”. Of the inaugural winners of the awards programme 60 percent believe that Ireland’s biggest advantage in the current climate is entrepreneurial spirit. A third of the winning companies believe that Ireland's educated workforce is the most significant advantage the country has, while just over six percent believe it to be the low corporate tax regime. The winning companies are not convinced that the supplementary Budget announced in April will stimulate economic recovery – 92 percent do not believe it will have an impact. Nearly 70 percent believe that there should now be a general election. On a positive note however, over 70 percent of winning companies believe that Ireland can emerge from this recession and enter a period of sustained growth. For further information and details of how to enter for the awards, visit www.deloittebestmanaged.ie . The winners will be announced in March 2010. |
