The measures been taken by the Government to ensure sound environmental practices and efficient energy management is further underlined by the decision to implement an air tightness test in all planning permission applications for new houses from July 1. “We recently did one such test for someone who was assured by the builders that their new home would be air-tight. Having paid extra to the builder, the were concerned when the house was built so quickly. So, having been brought in to check the air tightness levels, we found the home to be far from satisfactory. People may not be aware how much heat they are losing in their homes and that obviously has repercussions for costs and energy efficiency.”
Crucially, as these regulations are implemented, the construction and, indeed selling sector, must adapt and change and NEA Cork are eager to be very much a part of that. “At NEA we also operate in an advisory role. We use our expertise to assess properties and subsequently make specific recommendations for that property on how its energy rating can be improved. Not only do we make suggestions on the types of product, from insulation, ventilation, lighting, and heating, we also advise our customers on where these products can be purchased. The solution recommended will be as individual as the property itself. As NEA has no trade agreements with any suppliers, we do not benefit financially from any recommendations we make, thus ensuring that we are 100% independent and totally impartial.” If his advice is as good as his entrepreneurial instinct then it’s a sure-fire bet that your home will be in safe hands with the NEA Cork team.
