According to John, in the early days, the three did their utmost to learn about customer service and how to make the most of customer relations. Having proved they could build their own business and already having learned a lot about their product, the three felt that now was the time to ensure they worked to offer the best customer service.

This focus on customer service is as important to the three now as it was in the beginnings and John says the three spend a lot of time with customers helping them to choose tiles as well as outlining floor plans and suggestion to them.  “I think personal service and personal care must come first. Most of our business through word of mouth and repeat customers . We are very much in touch with people,” said John.

There is no doubt that JMR Tiles, which has had a very successful beginning is expecting a very bright future. When asked if John ever expected the company to grow like it had he had no difficulty in saying that he didn’t think any of them ever predicted that their small venture would grow like it had and become not only a viable full-time job but a very successful, profitable business. “Going back three or four years before we opened the business, I don’t think any if us saw ourselves working for ourselves full-time, this is nothing that we had foreseen, but we very much just gave it a go and when it started moving forward we just continued to push it forward,” he said.

Looking to the future, John says that the three have no intention of slowing down and will continue to expand the business over the years. “We continue to take on people but, the workload is still increasing , but, we keep our hands on the rudder and steer it away ourselves.”

John said that the three expect significant growth in their Fermoy shop over the coming years as the town develops and plan to expand to business here to respond to this. They also continue to work to  improve their showrooms and now update these every few months.
