While some companies have expressed concerns about the impending downturn, Laura is confident that the recession will not have a negative impact on the company. On the contrary she plans to expand the company over the coming months. She explained, "companies are becoming more and more aware of the importance of marketing and good business plans and in the downturn many cannot afford to employ full-time marketing staff. We're very fortunate here in Cork that there is a number of companies with marketing expertise who can provide these services for a fraction of the cost of employing a full-time marketing person and COMMUNiCATE will help to provide this."

Speaking about the expansion of the company, Laura explains that COMMUNiCATE is currently recruiting for a new Business Development & Account Manager and is just about to launch its new sister company Tie the Knot. This new wedding planning consultancy was set up just over a year ago due to the interest expressed by some of COMMUNiCATE's clients looking for help with planning their weddings. It is already proving to be a huge success.

"Tie the Knot was set-up to not only help the bride and groom plan their wedding but, also to help bring down the cost of their big day by pulling on our expertise and contacts to negotiate better prices with suppliers," explains Laura. The company has already organised a number of weddings in Ireland and in Spain and offers couples everything from a once-off wedding consultation to organising the wedding in its entirety.

Looking to the future, Laura says that she couldn't be happier with the success of the company to date and looks forward to the new challenges that COMMUNiCATE will face in the future. " We have fabulous clients who give us great challenges on a daily basis. One day you could be walking into a crèche in Clonmel and the next you are speaking at a national conference in Dublin. The creativity, energy and motivation required each day is what keeps me going during the day and I would not change my job role, I enjoy it too much" she said.
