Cobh man Mr Michael McCormack of Cobh & Harbour Chamber has been elected Chairman for the coming year at its recent Annual General Meeting. Michael is a Past President of Cobh & Harbour Chamber. He has represented the Chamber with distinction on a number of organisations including East Cork Area Development where he served a term as chairman. He has recently completed a four year term as Chairman of Cork Cruise (a joint venture set up by Cobh and Harbour Chamber and the Port of Cork, to promote liner traffic in the area). He is also a member of Chamber's Ireland Transport Users Council. Speaking after his election Michael expressed his thanks to outgoing Chair Michael Farrell of Youghal and to the Chamber members for their nomination. "I look forward to my term of office as Chairman of the Regional Chambers and to working over the next year with the other Chambers in the Cork Region. The Chamber movement is a powerful lobbying group and businesses in the region should look to the Chamber to support their interests nationally". The election of Honorary Officers also included Lucy O'Donoghue, Cork Chamber elected Honorary Secretary and Kathleen Geary, Cobh & Harbour Chamber elected Honorary Treasurer. The Cork Regional Chambers consists of Cork, Cobh & Harbour, Charleville, Kanturk, Mallow, Midleton, West Cork and Youghal Chambers. Representatives from these Chambers meet monthly to discuss and move forward issues of common interest in the region. |
