CORK business people were told to "close their eyes so that they might see" at a recent Creativity in Business seminar at Hayfield Manor in Cork. The seminar was hosted by Cork company Lumos Consultancy who said that these recessional times need to be combated by taking a fresh look at businesses and utilising staff in a positive manner. At the seminar, Peter Thompson of Lumos Consultancy, encouraged business representatives to look within themselves and to unleash their creative potential. "Often we are working so hard that it feels like we are on a train and we can't get off it. We're so busy trying to accomplish all of our tasks and our "to dos" that we forget to encourage the creative process where many of the best ideas come from. If we learn to reconnect with ourselves and to others we can improve our productivity, energy and enthusiasm. We can do more work yet feel less drained; this is when we get many of our best ideas, which can boost productivity and profit in these challenging times," he said. Business Partner Fergal O'Connor talked the corporate delegates through a variety of right brained activities including visualisation techniques, music therapy and knowing how to be still in a world that is full of distractions and noise. These activities also included creative brain storming sessions which showed people how to implement and think up new ideas which everyone is capable of. The event was well received by those in attendance. |
