The conference will address significant issues essential to Cork's future development as a vibrant, thriving and expanding economic region, with a number of keynote speakers on hand to offer their opinion, including Dr Michael Murphy, President, University College Cork and Matt Cooper, broadcaster and journalist.

Speaking at the launch of the Conference, Joe Gantly, Chamber President said, "The Cork region is now at a point of significant opportunity with real potential to develop as a competitive international city. For Cork to be successful in this challenge we need to focus on continued infrastructural development and deliver on the potential which the new Docklands project presents.

"Over many years Cork has grown significant competence across a range of sectors spanning both the multinational and indigenous environments but now needs to concentrate on what will deliver for the future. On October 25 at the Sheraton Fota Island Golf & Spa Resort, we will be addressing the key questions about the future development of Cork."

Mr Conor Healy, Chamber Chief Executive said, "This half-day conference, to be chaired by broadcaster and journalist, Matt Cooper, is aimed at individuals with an interest in the future development of a vibrant and thriving region including manufacturing and services companies, multinationals, property developers, tourism and hospitality interests, state agencies, third level institutions, media organizations, community and local authority representatives. We urge those involved in these sectors to attend, to have their voices heard, their questions answered and to ensure their involvement in Cork's future success".

Mr Healy concluded by saying, "The Chamber seeks to encourage debate and we want everyone involved in business and the development of the Cork region to contribute. With this in mind we have put together an expert panel of speakers for this conference".
