Small and medium sized companies in the City and County should urgently examine if they are entitled to supports which are currently available from Enterprise Ireland, according to Fianna Fáil TD and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Micheál Martin, TD. "A number of important funds are now available to support the expansion and growth plans of Cork's small and medium sized firms and it is important that companies take time out to see if they are eligible. The important role of Research and Development in securing Cork jobs into the future has been well documented. In order to support R&D in our smaller firms a special fund is being made available. It will support projects up to €150,000." Continuing, he said, "In addition the Government, through Enterprise Ireland, is also making available a 'Growth Fund' for companies. Its aim is to improve the competitiveness of Cork's small and medium sized companies and will support new premises, investment in technology, management development, staff training and many other areas. Under the Growth Fund up to 50% of a companies outlay can be grant aided on investments of up to €300,000 for Capital and Technology investment. "These funds have in the past proved vital in the development of a thriving small and medium sized business sector in Cork which is providing jobs in all our communities. I would encourage businesses to take time out now and to see if any projects they are planning could qualify for support. We are approaching some key deadlines in both funds and Cork firms can check out details by either contacting Enterprise Ireland directly or by logging on to www.enterpriseireland.ie," concluded Minister Martin. |
