Kilcully Decking this year celebrates a decade in business. In any day and age, regardless of economic booms or recession–affected climates, reaching such a milestone is generally a sign that those behind the venture posses a savvy business acumen, an unwavering dedication to maintaining good customer relations as well as a keen eye for new developments in their chosen fields.

In the case of John O'Driscoll, the above is certainly true. The man behind Kilcully Decking has seen his family run operation grown substantially in the 10 years since the business first opened its doors to the Munster market. The company can now rightfully lay claim to being one of the largest decking companies in the province.

The family run business first entered the market when O'Driscoll decided to open a small fencing company in Cork. The company quickly built a trusted reputation amongst homeowners and businesses across the city and county and began to expand steadily.

As time went on and the company went from strength to strength, John continued to add to the range of timber products available at the company and in answering the growing demand from consumers, three years ago the company relocated to a new facility at the Sarsfield Court Industrial Estate, Glanmire and John's brother Joe decided to join forces with him to create what is now Kilcully Decking.

Quality at Kilcully Decking, whether it be their customer service, their products or their fitting staff, is a give-in. Today the company stocks a wide range of pressure treated softwood, hardwood and cedar wood for fencing and decking, sheds, gates and lighting as well as pressure treated sleepers. They are also now stocking composite deck board which they import directly, saving the customer on extra charges. Composite deck board products are made from recycled plastics and rice hulls and are available in a wide range of colours and sizes, making them ideal for anyone looking to create a unique decking area.

As well as stocking a wide rage of fencing and decking products and accessories, Kilcully Decking also offers an extensive fitting service which is provided directly by expert company employees who specialise in this service – there are no sub-contractors here – everything can be directly traced back to John and co. To date, these highly skilled staff have undertaken a vast number of home and corporate projects including the stunning decking at the newly opened Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore, at the Sheraton
Hotel on Fota Island and at the new tax offices in Blackpool.

In their guises as both retailers and wholesalers, the company has become increasingly popular amongst homeowners, local landscapers and developers looking to add a touch of elegance to their homes and workplaces over the years and is showing no signs of slowing down. John says he owes the huge success of the company to date to their focus on customer service and in the quality of the product they are offering. "We place a huge emphasis on customer service and pride ourselves in the superior quality of the timber we stock, we wouldn't stock or sell any cheap timbers and I think this has stood to us," he said.

John says that the company has also proved so successful because of the vast range of accessories available in store and explains that landscapers will be able to find everything they need for decking all under one roof at their showroom. The company has recently added panel fencing and swing benches, both of which can be attained at the great value Kilcully Decking has come to be known for. "We have double swing benches priced at 495, reduced from 895," says John, by way of example.
