A local enterprise grant of almost €110,000 has been awarded to the Macroom Environmental Industrial Park in an effort to help continue the support given to the economic development in the Lee Valley region. The grant was awarded under the Community Enterprise Centre Scheme, which is funded by Government and managed by Enterprise Ireland, and brings the overall figure to a total of Ä11 million spent in developing 22 new centres and expansions at six existing centres. The grant was announced by the Minister for Education and Science and local Fianna Fáil TD Batt O'Keeffe, who said, "I've no doubt that the cash injection will help the group to build on its achievements and to continue to offer a supportive environment for companies to grow and generate industry and employment in the Lee Valley region. "Macroom Environmental Industrial Park does excellent work in promoting the benefits of environmental good practice through its involvement in a number of local initiatives. This funding will be instrumental in driving local enterprise and entrepreneurship. The Community Enterprise Centre Scheme is a highly successful partnership between Government, Enterprise Ireland and the local community." Continuing he said, "It stimulates the growth of an enterprising and innovative culture of local entrepreneurship - the essential seedbed for the growth of successful young businesses. As well as that, the scheme provides the practical support in terms of space and facilities and a supportive environment for new businesses to emerge and prosper at a local level. I have no doubt that the €108,900 grant for Macroom Environmental Industrial Park will help considerably in driving local entrepreneurship in the Lee Valley region". |
