PepsiCo were the big winners at the recent Cork Chamber/BT Company of the Year Awards when they were named as the best overall company.

Other winners included Audit Diagnostics in the Cork SME Company (less than 50 employees) Award and Lincor Solutions which took the Emerging Cork Company (less than 5 years in business) Award.

Presenting the awards at the Cork Chamber Annual Dinner in City Hall, Anne O'Leary, Managing Director, Business, BT Ireland said, "I'm delighted that our partnership with Cork Chamber, now in its 11th consecutive year, ensures that companies in Cork are recognized for their outstanding business success and impact on the region. In terms of performance, investment, employment, R&D and corporate social responsibility, our three winners tonight should be held up as world class leaders in their chosen fields".

Joe Gantly, President of Cork Chamber said, "PepsiCo Ireland was established in 1974 and by 2008 the Irish operation has become a flagship facility within the PepsiCo environment, employing 426 people to manufacture a wide range of soft drink concentrates. Recent landmarks in the company's history include the opening of a second plant in Carrigaline in 2003 at the cost of €120 million to supply concentrate to the North American market and the establishment of a research and development centre-of-excellence in 2006 to provide product, process and packaging research for the world wide concentrate organisation. In 2007 the world wide concentrate headquarters operation was transferred from New York to the Irish operation in Cork. Since 1993 on average €12 million has been invested each year in the Irish operations. We are also pleased to see the company employees play an active part of the Cork, Little Island and Carrigaline community through an active corporate social responsibility policy".
