Over 180 people packed the Vertigo Lounge in County Hall this week to celebrate 10 years of it@cork and find out who were the winners of the inaugural it@cork Leaders Awards, which recognizies leaders in technology innovation.

A champagne reception got the night off to a start, followed by a four course meal and the award ceremony itself. John Collins, Technology Journalist for the Irish Times, was the MC and coordinated the evening’s events.

There was much reminiscing about the changes in the IT sector in Cork over the last 10 years and the advantage of having a member based organisation like it@cork to promote Cork as a centre of IT excellence and facilitate training and networking among IT business professionals.

With over 60 entries across four categories the competition was intense. The Judges included some of the region’s best known and most successful IT business people and practitioners. The winners were Cubic Telecom, winner Emerging Company, Thomas Crosbie Holdings, winner IT Department, TreeMetrics/Cork Constraint Computation Centre, winner R&D and Abtran, winner High Potential. Donal Manning, chair of the it@cork steering committee said, “It’s wonderful to see the future of Cork’s IT sector all in one room”.
