The time of giving has come around once more and Cork’s public, as always, has not been found wanting. Tales of charity throughout the city and county have reached this paper over the last couple of weeks - from a handful of euro to the thousands - though belts are tightened a little more than over the last few years.
Cork is a county blessed with myriad organisations willing to work hard for others all year round and it is perhaps only at Christmas do we truly appreciate their gargantuan efforts. They themselves will be the first to point out, however, that while there is a lot done, there is certainly more to do. Christmas is an extremely difficult time for many people and we hope that the generosity shown by the people of Cork during this month continues over the festive period and into the new year. We would like to wish our readers and advertisers a very happy Christmas and a prosperous new year. The Cork Independent has continued to grow during 2007 and it is our wish that we continue to serve Cork’s public to the best of our ability in 2008.
Finally, I would like to thank our extremely hard-working sales, production, administrative and editorial staff for their fantastic efforts throughout 2007. Your diligence has ensured that the Cork Independent is in an excellent position to continue its projected growth into the new year. Go raibh mile maith agaibh,
Michael Carr |
