The Enterprise Ireland Student Enterprise Awards will be held in Cork Institute of Technology on June 3 - 4. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Awards which offer Third Level students from all academic disciplines the chance to realise their entrepreneurial ambitions.
Sponsored by Enterprise Ireland, Invest Northern Ireland and Cruickshank Intellectual Property Attorneys, the Student Enterprise Awards is Ireland’s largest and longest established student competition, boasting an unrivalled prize fund of €65,000 for Ireland’s entrepreneurs of the future.
Also for the first time this year Enterprise Ireland are giving the overall winner the opportunity to avail of a mentor for their project for 12 months to develop their overall concept. The Student Enterprise Awards were designed to foster and promote innovation and entrepreneurship amongst third level students across the Island of Ireland. Last year, students from CIT scooped the title of College Entrepreneurs of the Year, as well as winning the Cruickshank Innovation Awards. John J Barry, Orla Houlihan, Niamh Barry, and Regina O’Donoghue of team “Apri-Cot” developed a specially designed apparatus that acted as a therapeutic sleeping aid for infants. A selection panel, consisting of representatives of the sponsors - Enterprise Ireland, Invest Northern Ireland and Cruickshank Intellectual Property Attorneys will shortlist entries on the basis of the following assessment criteria.
Short-listed entrants will then proceed to the final stages of the competition to be held on 4th June 2008 in CIT. The College Entrepreneurs of the Year will then be announced, together with all the winners, at a high profile awards ceremony. This will take place in Cork Institute of Technology on Wednesday June 4, 2008. |
