Glasheen Boys' School Has Done It Again!
An interschool quiz was also held by Cork City & County Councils on 6th May 2008. On that occasion, both Primary & Secondary Schools, from all over the county took part. Glasheen, once again, was the winning primary school, just one point behind the winners, Colaiste Choilm of Ballincollig. The last quiz of the year was to be the NPC Munster Finals. Excitement was at fever pitch as the teams took their places in Silver Springs Hotel before 2 p.m.. The result was not known until 5 p.m... In a nail biting finish, it was announced that there was a tie-breaker for second place, but a clear winner. The winner would not be announced, however, until after the tie-breaker between Ennis and Rusheen. With Rusheen eventually securing 2nd place, it was finally revealed that Glasheen were the winners. Kevin Holland (Captain), David Calnan, Ross Browne and Sean Harrington had brought home more silverware for Glasheen. Afterwards, Michael Daly (Principal) paid tribute to the boys for their outstanding run of success. He said he was so proud of them and what they had achieved. He thanked the boys, their parents who have been tremendously supportive over the past number of years and of course, their teachers.
Glasheen's other team of Christopher Garde (6th Class), Jack Magee, Shane Cox and Daniel Brazil (All 5th Class) also qualified for the finals and were only narrowly beaten out of a top 3 finish. Mr. Daly said that he was delighted with all of the boys. They had enjoyed taking part, had learned so much and had displayed tremendous team spirit.
