Page 1 of 2 Imagine a pulsating arena inspired by nature and filled with music, beauty, art, performance, holistic therapies, tipis and log fires, sumptuous gardens, bean bag lounging rooms and night time installations.
Walk towards the edge of a natural valley to see two Irish musicians strumming Spanish guitars on a wooden stage below. This is the ‘Body & Soul’ arena which features the best in chill out music including folk, classical, electronic, reggae, roots and funk. Taking place from Friday August 29 to Monday September 1, this year’s line up does not disappoint with a mixture of iconic and hot new acts. One of the most legendary acts of this century, The Sex Pistols, will play their first ever Irish show with all four original members. Another iconic and influential band, My Bloody Valentine, will take to the stage for their first Irish show in 17 years. The group’s 1999 album, Loveless, was voted the greatest rock and roll album of all time in an Irish Times poll. Scottish indie rockers Franz Ferdinand will showcase their eagerly awaited third album while the post-rock Icelandic band Sigur Rós will move the crowds with their ethereal and melodic sound. Alternative rockers The Breeders are set to return after a six year absence to wow crowds with their new album Mountain Battles. Funk artist and legend George Clinton will join forces with an astonishing 30 piece band, the D-Funk Allstars. Nick Cave’s Grindermen will entertain fans with their version of scuzzy blues while Christy Moore is a man who needs no explanation, Hot new motown sensation Duffy is set to perform alongside other artists such as The Gossip, New Young Pony Club, Josh Ritter, Grace Jones, La Rocca, The Gutter Twins and hip-hop soul legends The Roots.
For dance inspired madness in the Bodytonic arena revellers will be treated to a ‘20 years of Fish Go Deep’ extravaganza on Friday night. On Saturday Ashley Beedle and techno showstoper Rob Hood will take to the stage, while other acts set to perform include Kerri Chandler, Charles Webster and Stereotonic DJs. Electro pop act Goldfrapp will be a delight with their introspective new sound while dance heavyweights Underworld are headlining on Saturday night. Irish acts Lisa Hannigan, Sinead O’ Connor and Cathy Davey, are also set to mesmerise crowds.
