Washington DC based Keegan Theatre make a welcome return to the Everyman Palace Theatre this October with David Mamet’s universally revered Glengarry Glen Ross, as part of the company’s ninth annual Irish tour. Directed by Jeremy Skidmore, Glengarry Glen Ross is the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning play by David Mamet, later adapted into a highly successful film staring Al Pacino, Ed Harris, Jack Lemon and Kevin Spacey.

The play takes place over two days in the lives of four desperate Chicago real estate agents who are prepared to engage in any number of acts, from lies and flattery to threat and intimidation, in order to sell undesirable real estate to unwilling prospective buyers, following an order from the downtown offices to cut numbers.

Washington DC based Keegan Theatre each year produce and tour one Irish play in the USA, and one American play in Ireland. Central to the company’s vision is that American audiences can be profoundly enhanced by the richness and depth of Ireland’s theatrical tradition – and vice versa. Glengarry Glen Ross follows on from the  companies successful run last year with Arthur Millers classic Death of A Salesman.

Mark A Rhea, Keegan’s Producing Artistic Director, says of Mamet, “He is one of the most important playwrights of the last century and such a unique voice in the American theatre landscape.  I’m excited to share Keegan’s take on Mamet with our Irish audiences”.
