Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal SkullWhat's the story? The worlds oldest archaeological adventurer returns to our screens 19 years after his last escapades. Producer Frank Marshall has confirmed that the film is set in 1957, thus acknowledging the real-life passing of years between films. Indiana Jones is having a quiet life teaching before being thrust back into his old adventuring. He races against agents of the Soviet Union for the crystal skull, with the theory being said skulls are shaped by higher powers (alien beings or an ancient Mayan civilization). Indy's journey takes him across New Mexico, Connecticut, Mexico City, and the jungles of Peru. And yes, you can expect some humour regarding Indiana's age. Who's cracking that whip then? Directed by Steven Spielberg with executive production by George Lucas, the Crystal Skull sees Harrison Ford return to the title role. It also stars Cate Blanchett, Karen Allen, Ray Winstone, John Hurt, Jim Broadbent, and Shia LaBeouf. Will audiences have problems keeping up with the Jones? Another sure-fire Summer Blockbuster, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will bring together young and old alike and with Ford teaming back up with cohorts Spielberg and Lucas, we can expect another typically elaborate adventure. The early poster certainly indicates it will be business as usual with Indiana and co (dig that awesome skull imagery). More big movies for 2008The Incredible Hulk: We find scientist Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) living in shadows, scouring the planet for an antidote. But the warmongers who dream of abusing his powers won't leave him alone, nor will his need to be with the only woman he has ever loved, Betty Ross (Liv Tyler). Upon returning to civilization, the brilliant doctor is ruthlessly pursued by The Abomination (Tim Roth) - a nightmarish beast of pure adrenaline and aggression whose powers match The Hulk's own. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: JK Rowling's sixth novel about the boy wizard appears on screen in this film from David Yates, the director of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson are back as the beloved Hogwarts students, and Oscar winner Jim Broadbent joins the cast as Horace Slughorn. City Of Men: In City Of Men, producer Fernando Meirelles (The Constant Gardner) returns to the Brazilian favelas of his Academy Award-nominated film, City of God. Growing up in a culture dictated by violence and run by street gangs, teenagers Acerola (Douglas Silva) and Laranjinha (Darlan Cunha) have become close as brothers. But trouble awaits around every corner. Rambo: Yeah, seriously, Rambo! |
