As one half of ambient leading lights Global Communication, a former collaborator with Aphex Twin and purveyor of all things house, Tom Middleton’s lofty standing in dance music circles can not be questioned.
The last twelve months have seen an increasing demand on Tom’s time and has seen the release of Lifetracks an album 10 years in the making. Summer 2007 saw him taking up the Manumission residency in Privelege. Tom rocked the world’s largest club throughout the summer and with typical aplomb (almost literally) blew the place apart with his eclectic sets that for many revitalised an eclecticism and reinvigoration of what the islands original vibe was all about.
His current tour sees him promoting a triple mix CD release for Renaissance which has taken in cities from Tokyo to Hong Kong to Cork. Hot on the heels of their recent success with Arveene, those Generic People are bringing us their contender for possible gig of the year with the arrival of Middleton to Cork. He plays the Bodega on Friday, May 23 with Ant in support in the main room. In room two Brendan O & Ger Barry (of Beat Boutique), will do their thing alongside exciting new Cork DJ Danbar. The event will also feature ENFP, a Cork VJ who is beginning to make waves on the scene, who will be handling exclusive visuals on the night. |
