Irish Greyhound Board selling site
A high profile strategic site at Curraheen Road has just come on the market. The property is being sold on behalf of the Irish Greyhound Board.
The greenfield site of about 1.23 hectares (3.06 acres) overlooks the Ballincollig bypass and it is adjacent to the former Cork City FC sports grounds.
Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium is close by and the University Technology Centre office campus and the residential estates of Bishopstown are to the east.
The property forms part of the proposed Cork Science and Innovation Park and UCC have planning permission for a 4,000 square metre office building just north of the site.
The masterplan states that it is envisaged that it may be appropriate to allow some additional services to locate in this area to serve the future retail needs of users of the park.
The subject site will become part of the Cork City Council local authority area after the city boundary extension later this year and this may allow for a review of the framework masterplan for the area.
There is currently strong demand for development opportunities in Cork and this property will appeal to developers and investors for its medium term development potential.
