What are the signs that your child is feeling peer pressure? How is your son or daughter handling the peer pressure that they encounter? What's your own feelings and thoughts about the sea of peer pressure which most teenagers are now exposed to on a daily and weekly basis? As a teenager, your child will be greatly and increasingly influenced by their peer group as to the sort of music, clothes, sport, relaxation and leisure activities that they are interested in, and those that they choose to pursue, engage in, indulge in, reject, move away from, or denounce. Each person is unique. Thus, one of your children may have an apparent impenetrable fortitude in their ability to steer a safe course through all the temptation and distractions that life throws at them, while another youngster will buckle, break, bend and be battered by these very same influences. What's the best weapon that I know which parents can use in the defence of their children when the peer pressure programme kicks in? It is, undoubtedly, to be willing to admit to the fact that we, as adults and parents, are probably more influenced by pressure from our peers than our teenagers are by their version of peer pressure!
