There's no denying there's a real sense of excitement in the air as the new season really begins to dawn. As if by magic, the city's shopfronts have been transformed into all their autumn glory and everywhere, summer trends are quickly being abandoned as fashion lovers begin to embrace the autumn/winter collections. Of course, the first port of call for many fashionistas will be Brown Thomas which has just launched its fantastic autumn/winter collections. This season's collections have been heavily influenced by sharp structural tailoring, 1960's nostalgia and the bohemian glamour of the 1970's and autumn/winter 09 is somewhat reminiscent of an older era whilst still managing to be ultimately modern. Many of the styles from the designers are distinctively sharp with lots of angular tailoring as well as clean and simple lines. When it comes to fabrics you'll really be spoilt for choice as the conservatives among us will be pleased to see the return to traditional tweeds, plaids and checks while the 'girly' girl will be overcome with the more opulent fabrics like satin, sheers and lace. A number of exciting new brands will be launching at BT Cork this autumn including Roland Mouret, contemporary designer Richard Ruiz and Lipsy. If you are interested in seeing the new BT collections for yourself then make sure you secure tickets for their highly anticipated upcoming fashion show. Presented by the Children's Medical & Research Foundation Crumlin in association with Brown Thomas Cork, 'One Enchanted Evening; A Brown Thomas Autumn/Winter 2008 Showcase' will be held at the Capella Hotel in Castlemartyr on September 27. A wonderful evening of entertainment is guaranteed including a champagne and canapé reception, spectacular musical entertainment in the form of Peter Corry, and of course the Autumn/Winter 2008 Brown Thomas Fashion Showcase, not to mention a complimentary gift bag from Brown Thomas. The aim of the fashion show is to make as much money as possible for the Children's Medical & Research Foundation, Crumlin. All proceeds will go towards the Children's Cancer Fund. There are just two hundred places available and tickets are priced at €200 per person.
