There's no denying that the sun-kissed look will be one of the key make-up trends for this summer and the good news is achieving the look is easier than you might think. To help make sure you can master it, Estée Lauder International Make-Up Artist Alan Plan has shared his tips on creating their bronzed goddess look with the Cork Independent, ensuring you can achieve that sun-kisses glow with ease. Alan explained the key to achieving the look us to layer colour. "A thin layer of fake tan always makes us look and feel better when we have to reveal more flesh than normal! But it also acts as a good base when using summer make-up," he said. Alan Pan's top tip1. One of the biggest faux pas' people commit is to just switch to a darker foundation and hope for the best. Instead use sheer textured products like Estee Lauder DayWear Plus Multi Protection Tinted Moisturizer (€32.50), as they add colour and warmth to your skin in a more natural way. Using false tan, bronzing powder and makeup may seem a bit of a mammoth task but to create something that has a natural finish you need to emulate what your skin does naturally. That means adding colour and light to certain areas of your face, not just all over! The products make it easy as they are so sheer. 2.Apply bronzer to the outer perimeter of your face just around your hairline, underneath your cheekbones and down the centre of your nose – where you would naturally tan. Don't swipe the brush over your entire face, as the end result will just look flat. You need to have natural highlights to shape and flatter your face. Be careful with your bronzer choice. Don't go for the darkest shade thinking you will be that colour soon! Go for the one nearest your natural tanning colour. Ensure the pigment isn't too strong, is easily bendable, and doesn't contain too much shimmer and shine. 3.Define brows and keep lip and eye colours within the golden family. Sweep Estee Lauder Pure Colour Eyeshadow in Blushing Goddess all over the eye lid, then create definition by using Pure Colour Eyeshadow in Cinnamon (€20.00) in the socket line. A pinch of colour on the apples of your cheeks helps to lift a tanned skin. 4.When creating a tan make up, all the colours you should use need to be warm. This means products that have golden lights in them. Warm browns, toffees, soft golds and bronzes. I usually keep colour to a minimum apart from on the lips where I love to use a vibrant colour. This summer I am using Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Sheer Lip Tint in Fuchsia ( €17.00) which adds vibrant colour to the look. Following these tips will help you to achieve a more convincing natural sun kissed look. Estée Lauder International Make-Up Artist Alan Plan will be visiting Brown Thomas Cork from the 20 to 21 May.
