One perfect match please, Santa!

Wednesday, 29th November, 2017 5:25pm

Christmas is looming and busy singletons, who are facing spending the festive season and New Years’ Eve solo, are rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in to good potential opportunities to meet that special someone. Well, at least they should be, according to dating agency, Intro matchmaking.

Whether you are young, free and single (or not-so-young, free and single), then December is the very best opportunity you will have to meet new, prospective partners. With all and sundry in merry form and eager to have a festive smooch under the mistletoe, it’s important to capitalise on the season to be jolly!

* Always look your best: you never know who might be looking. Although confidence comes from within, looking your best when you leave the house will help that confidence. When you feel better about yourself you will attract positive attention so leave the sweats for the gym and the PJs for the bedroom. When you leave the house, you should shine.

* Say yes to everything. It may be tempting to snuggle up on the sofa every night and tuck into the Quality Street but resist that urge and fill your calendar with every gathering you can get an invite to. There will be plenty of time for sleeping in in January so get involved, you never know who you might meet.

* Make yourself available for dates. Everybody must eat, so even though the cows need to be milked, kids need to be fed and the meeting has to be attended, it is always possible to carve out a couple of hours one night to go and meet someone that could be your perfect partner.

* If someone asks you out, go. Love at first sight is a big ask and it rarely ever happens, unless you are 18 and genetically primed to find everyone attractive. Most relationships begin with a slowly developing attraction, so if you judge people based on a first impression then you might miss out. Just because sparks don’t fly at first glance, does not mean you won’t fall madly in love on your third date.

Intro matchmaking is a nationwide matchmaking service based at 24-25 Grafton Street, Dublin 2. Phone 01-6777000 or log on to intro.ie for more information.
