Cork Incubator Kitchens is three years old this year and as versatile as ever. Targetting budding food producers who have outgrown their home kitchens, it allows them to see what working in a larger-scale kitchen would be like without a major outlay.

Indeed, the facility has seen many successful food operators come and go, using the kitchens to develop their products on a large scale and often progressing into their own production units.

The kitchens can be rented for as little as €15 per hour including all services and utilities as well as free food safety training as part of the deal.

As well as food production, the kitchens also provide an ideal training facility for budding chefs, away from the busy and often stressful setting of professional kitchens.

The kitchens have also been used for developing media content such as product photography and online training videos as well as a classroom for traditional training such as knife skills, cake making and healthy eating classes for children.

The Incubator Kitchens, which were developed by Cork County Council, are managed and promoted by the Food Safety Company who maintain them to HSE required standards.
