St Luke’s goes green

Wednesday, 13th March, 2019 4:38pm

There’ll be no leprechauns or plastic paddies, but Live at St Luke’s are set to paint the town green with a jam-packed lineup this Patrick’s Day weekend.

A crop of cult heroes and up and coming talent will take to the stage at the newly-crowned IMRO Munster Venue of the Year 2018 this weekend.

Kicking off on Friday 15 March is cult Cork band Interference. Centred around the late singer/songwriter Fergus O’Farrell, Interference have influenced a generation of musicians and will be supported by psychedelic-folk songwriter Elaine Malone.

Saturday sees popular folk rock band Scullion return to Cork, with support from Wicklow songwriter Anna Mieke, who is expected to perform tasters from her debut album ‘Idle Mind’.

Assuring us that folk music can be angry, progressive and still a vital force today, Lankum will perform on Sunday, with special guest Jimmy Crowley. Lankum’s urban punk fervour is underpinned by the eternal drone of uilleann pipes.

Tickets for shows (€23-€25 plus booking fee) are available from liveatstlukes.com, Pro Musica or Henchy’s Bar.
