Two men, charged with the murder of Cork man Brian McKee, have been sent forward for trial at the next sitting of the Central Criminal Court.

Brian McKee was killed when, while returning home in the early hours of 25 August , he became involved in a fight and was stabbed a number of times. He was taken to Cork University Hospital but,  died later that day as a result of his injuries.

John Brett (aged 24) of Leitrim Street and Jason Quinlan (aged 29) with an address at Loughmahon Drive, Mahon appeared before Cork District Court yesterday (Wednesday) where books of evidence were served on the two accused.

Brett and Quinlan had been previously charged with assault causing harm to Mr Brian McKee, but this charge had been dropped and the charge was recently upgraded to murder.

At yesterday’s sitting of the court, Judge MacGruairc returned Brett and Quinlan to the Central Criminal Court and it will now be a matter for the Central Criminal Court to fix a date for their trial.
