Beware bogus collectors E-mail

Enable Ireland is asking the people of Cork to be vigilant when donating to charities after recent reports of bogus charity collectors in Cork.

Charlie Fellows, assistant Fundraiser at Enable Ireland’s Cork branch said that there has been reports of people claiming to be from the well known Lavanagh Centre going door to door collecting money. She said, “We are advising the public to look out for Enable Ireland photo identification before donating money and also, to keep in mind that Enable Ireland does not undertake any door to door collections.”

Reports have been made to Enable Ireland Cork about three men operating in the Maryborough area of Douglas. The men are operating in the evening time and seem to be preying on local estates. The local gardai have been notified of the bogus collectors.

The public are also advised to look out for a registered charity number, a landline phone number and the organisation’s logo on collection bags and vans, ICSA logo (Irish Charity Shops Association).
