A man and women , who allegedly hijacked a car in East Cork on Tuesday night, were last evening awaiting a decision on their bail. Twenty-five-year-old Gerard Brown and 24-year-old Jennifer O’ Mahony, both with an address at Upper Friar Street, Cashel, appeared before a court in Dungarvan yesterday afternoon following an incident where a car was rammed in Cahir, Co Tipperary. The incident followed on from a hijacking in Carrigtwohill on Tuesday evening where a young women was threatened at knifepoint. It’s understood that the two hijacked the car at around 7.30pm, making their getaway to Co Tipperary where the car was subsequently stopped by the Cashel Traffic Unit when it struck a number of parked cars. On exiting the car the two assaulted two gardaí who later received treatment St Joseph’s Hospital, Clonmel. Mr Brown and Ms O’ Mahony appeared in Dungarvan Court yesterday afternoon where Brown was charged with two counts of assault and one count of dangerous driving while Ms O’ Mahony was given an assault charge. Judge Terence Finn decided to put back a decision on bail until later last night and at the time of going to press these details had not yet to be announced. |
