Crew onboard a 32-foot trawler required assistance yesterday, Wednesday, February 13, after the vessel caught fire off the west coast of Cork.
The two man crew of the Inverigchn sent out a mayday signal at midday after getting into difficulties two miles off the Seven Heads peninsula. A seven-man crew onboard the Courtmacsherry RNLI lifeboat responded to the call. The lifeboat crew reached the vessel, which had lost all power, in less than an hour and towed it back to shore. Both crew members onboard the trawler escaped without injuries.
