A man charged in connection with the death of his partner in Clonakilty last April, has been sentenced to life imprisonment. Hadim Kedik was found guilty of murdering mother-of-three Rose Patterson by a jury of seven men and four women at the Central Criminal Court yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, February 6). Rose Patterson was found dead in a flat belonging to Kedik on Connolly Street in Clonakilty last April . She had suffered multiple stab wounds. Kedik had pleaded not guilty to murdering Ms Patterson, saying he did inflict injury, but never planned to kill her. During the trial the Central Criminal Court heard that the estranged couple had been arguing over access visits to their 21-month-old son. Yesterday the court was read a victim impact statement from Rose Patterson's family, which said she was an only child and the focus of her mother's life. The family said that Rose Patterson's death would have consequences into the future in particular for her son. After considering all the evidence, the jury of seven men and four women reached a guilty verdict and Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy sentenced the Turkish national to a mandatory life sentence backdated the life sentence to 16 April of last year. |
