Officers from the Revenue Customs service yesterday seized 89,000 cigarettes, approximately 145 Kgs of "roll your own" tobacco and a Mercedes car in Cork.

The seizure followed a search of a residence in the north side of the city and forms part of a continuing investigation into the sale of contraband cigarettes and tobacco in Cork city. The major haul has an estimated value of €16,000 and has a potential loss of €80,000 to the Revenue.
