The National Sculpture Factory (NSF), based in Cork announced their programme for 2008 today (Thursday).

The programme includes a variety of new artists' commissions, beginning with a site-specific commission on the exterior wall of the Albert Road building by artist Seán Lynch based on a piece of Cork mythology.

The programme also includes the NSF's most ambitious project of the year, a suite of three temporary artworks to go on public exhibition in Cork's Docklands in October.

The projects will be developed by three artists one international, one Irish and one from or based in Cork.

This year also sees the return of the lecture programme and will see a number of high profile international artists visiting Cork to talk about their work.

The "Films in the Mezz" programme, initiated last year will also continue and the NSF will also host three residencies during the year. Perhaps the biggest project ever for the NSF will be the redevelopment of the Albert Road building also due to begin this year which will include refurbished workshops, new studios and digital facilities; a new meeting room and kitchen, a new public reception area with a library, IT access and audio visual equipment, and a facelift for the exterior of the building.
