Sunderland FC has forged an exciting new business link with Cork by becoming one of the newest members of the Cork Chamber. The English club, which has gained huge popularity in Cork since Roy Keane joined the Black Cats as manager, joined the chamber recently as part of efforts to develop its relations in Ireland and in particular in Cork. Mark Moisley, Irish Development Manager at Sunderland FC said that while Sunderland FC has already secured interest, sponsorship and hospitality from Cork in the past, they now want to build up their business connections in Cork further and they felt that by joining the chamber they may be able to build their brand in Cork. He also said that while there are currently about 1,000 supporters coming from Ireland to Sunderland for their games, that he hoped the new link would help Sunderland FC to encourage more people from Cork to visit the club and consider corporate membership. Moisley admitted that the Cork interest in Sunderland FC has undoubtedly increased since Niall Quinn became Chairman of the club and Roy Keane was appointed manager and said that this was obviously another reason to market the club in areas such as Cork and Dublin. Concluding, Moisley said that they were looked forward to playing an active part in Chamber events and hopefully generate interest in Cork and build our name here," he said. |
