Thirty of the country's top entrepreneurs are to visit Cork this weekend where they will meet with some of the city's key business leaders.

The group, who are all alumni of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year competition, will meet with a number of key organisations in the region who will be showcasing the business, investment, educational and tourist attractions of Cork.

During the visit they will also visit UCC where will participate in a discussion on the ways UCC can continue to grow and develop into a world class regional University. At UCC they will also consider the challenges facing entrepreneurs in business today and the role of the third level in equipping aspiring entrepreneurs to deal with these challenges.

Among the top representatives they will meet while in Cork are both the city and county managers, Joe Gavin and Martin Riordan. President of University College Cork, Prof M Murphy, and Alan Crosbie, Adjunct Prof at the John C. Kelliher Family Business Centre at UCC.

Commenting on the visit, John Higgins, Partner in charge of Ernst & Young's Cork office, said he was delighted to support the visit of these business leaders to Cork, which coincides with the end of the nomination period for the 2008 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year. "We're delighted with the level of interest in this year's competition," said John. "One of the key strengths of the competition is that all finalists, not just winners, have a chance to participate in events like this visit to Cork. By meeting with key decision makers as well as networking with other entrepreneurs, Ernst & Young Entrepreneur finalists get a chance to develop and grow their business."
