Representatives from the media group travelled to Cork last week to view potential sites for new TV3 news offices which could also house a radio studio for their MORE FM station.

The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland recently shortlisted two proposed stations from the five applications received for a new Classic Gold/Easy Listening/Smooth multi-city service on the FM band.

MORE FM, if successful, will be broadcast in the areas of Cork City and County, Dublin City, County and commuter belt, Limerick City and County, Co Clare and Galway City and County.

Peter Ennis, Director of Operations at TV3, speaking to the Cork Independent said, “We’ve seen a couple of place in Cork, but we’re not in a position to say where as yet. We are looking for a better shot of Cork city, and we will need more space if we are successful in our application with MORE FM.

“We are being pro-active in our approach to the radio station. We won’t know until January, but if successful we will be looking to broadcast from September 2008. We already have a CEO and Programme Director on board, who will make the switch from their current positions in January if we get the licence.”
