Two charged over credit union raids |

Two men were charged at Cork District Court yesterday (Wednesday) evening in connection with two credit union raids carried out in Cork city.
The two men, aged 21 and 36 were charged with a robbery at Bishopstown Credit Union which took place on October 30 and an attempted robbery at the Lough Credit, Togher on November 6. The first incident saw the raiders allegedly steal a quantity of cash and make their escape on a motorbike.
During the second incident two men wearing motorcycle helmets entered the Lough Credit Union in Togher where they allegedly made off with a quantity of cash. The men were intercepted by uniform Gardaí from Togher Garda Station shortly afterwards and arrested near the scene. A quantity of cash and an imitation firearm were recovered.
