Two men have been charged with the murder of Mahon father-of-two Brian McKee in August of this year. The two charged are 29-year-old Jason Quinlan from Mahon and 24-year-old John Brett from Leitrim Street. Neither of the accused replied when they were formally arrested, charged and cautioned yesterday (Wednesday).

The two men are accused of stabbing 24-year-old Mr McKee at Ballinure Avenue in Mahon on August 25, Mr McKee died as a result of his injuries later that day.

The case was adjourned until December 19 and a book of evidence will be prepared. The state withdrew an earlier charge of assault against Mr Quinlan and a case of assault against Mr Brett was also expected to be withdrawn today (Thursday).
