The Red Army will once again march on Cardiff as Munster head to the Welsh capital in search of their second Heineken Cup in three years this weekend.
Over 40,000 Munster fans are expected to travel to the Millennium Stadium for Saturday’s final, generating a huge economic boost for ferry companies, airlines and travel agents.
Cork Airport alone is expecting more than 3,000 Munster rugby fans to travel through this weekend, making for one of the busiest days since the new terminal opened back in 2006. To ensure that fans get the special day off to a great start, management at Cork Airport is issuing the following advice: All special rugby charters on May 24 will operate from the main terminal building. As traffic is expected to be extremely busy, please arrange to be dropped to the Airport, if at all possible. If you must bring your car, please car pool and use either the short-term multi-storey or long-term car parks. Allow plenty of time for check-in. Airport management advises passengers to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before their scheduled departure time. Check-in for flights will close 40 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the rugby charter flights.
Meanwhile 40,000 Munster fans are expected to descend on Limerick city during the game, when two of the biggest TV screens in Europe will be put up on O’Connell Street. |
