When it comes to Ford, loyalties are often divided in Ireland. The marque continues to be one of the most popular in the country and given its huge Cork pedigree it has many devotees in the Rebel County. Of course Ford’s decision to close its plant in the Marina also contributed to plunging Cork into one of the worst economic crises in the city’s history which for some has left a bitter taste. On its home patch in the USA the company is in serious difficulties like most other major US manufacturers due to its heavy reliance on pick-up trucks and SUVs which are finally beginning to wane in popularity stateside. Things are so bad in fact that the company is seriously considering rolling out many of Ford Europe’s models in the US. One that is already popular over there is the Focus, an undoubted success of a vehicle which underlines just how much better the design and quality of the companies European cars are compared to the US versions. This CMAX is excellent value with just over 25,000 miles on the clock and will make an excellent, reliable family car for its new owner. Being Focus based, the CMAX feels more car than van which has to be a good thing with an MPV. This one comes with air-conditioning, alloys, CD player, air bags and remote central locking. |
