Mazda has launched a new facelifted version of the Mazda6 in advance of this year's Geneva Motor Show in March. The new, upgraded version enhances the strengths of its predecessor, with good driving appeal and fuel efficiency, while improving refinement, cabin ambience, environmental compatibility and safety performance. The car has the new Mazda family face. This includes changes to the headlamps and rear lights, for a more sporty appearance. Six engine options will be available for the Mazda6 facelift, including a new 2.0-litre DISI petrol engine that uses less fuel and produces fewer emissions than the 2.0-litre engine it replaces. Its five-speed automatic transmission has been fine-tuned, especially for this new petrol engine to deliver an optimal combination of acceleration and fuel economy. Updated versions of the Mazda MZR 1.8 and 2.5-litre engines complete the petrol line-up. The Mazda MZR-CD 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine is available in three power derivatives from 129 to 180bhp, all of them responsive, with improved fuel-efficiency and lower CO2 emissions. The Mazda6 facelift also features new chassis settings and several new active safety features. These include a new pivoting adaptive front lighting system and hill-launch assist that Mazda claim makes the car one of the safest and easiest-to-drive cars in its segment. Mazda reports that the upgraded versions of the new Mazda6 facelift will go on sale in Europe this spring. There is no date confirmed for entry to the Irish market. |
