Ben O'Connor from Newtownshandrum is one of Cork's best-known inter-county hurlers. He currently works as a hurley maker and plays his club hurling with Newtownshandrum.

He has enjoyed a highly successful career in both club and inter-county hurling with honours including county, Munster and national club titles, an Under-21 All Ireland, five Munster Titles and three senior All Irelands. He was named in the All-Star team in 2005 and captained the Cork senior team in 2001 and 2004.

How long have you been driving?
I've been driving since I was 17, which is 12 years.

What was your first car?
It was a Nissan Sunny.

What do you drive today?
I drive a Ford Focus 1.6TDCi Saloon, courtesy of Cavanaghs of Charleville.

How often do you change your car?
It's been a yearly thing with Cavanaghs.

Your favourite place to drive?
Home from work.

The best car you ever drove?
The new Ford Mondeo diesel. It's a beautiful car.

What's your dream car?
I wouldn't mind an Aston Martin DB9.

What's on your CD player?
The Killers, Sam's Town.

Worst thing about driving in Cork?
Hold ups from road works on certain roads.

Best thing about driving in Cork?
Some of the roads are built to a very high standard.
