The new Mitsubishi ASX is a compact crossover vehicle for Europe with a new 188-litre turbo-diesel engine providing the power.

Mitsubishi Motors will showcase its new compact crossover called the ASX at this year's Geneva Motor Show in March. The ASX is the European-spec version of the Japanese RVR, which is planned to hit the Japanese market from next month. Mitsubishi's new compact crossover will seat five and will be introduced in European countries from late spring 2010.

The car is aimed at expanding Mitsubishi's passenger car offering, following in the footsteps of the larger and recently redesigned Outlander mid-size crossover.

Amongst other available powertrains, Mitsubishi has confirmed that the European version of the ASX will be fitted with a new Euro 5-compliant 1.8L turbo-charged direct-injection diesel engine. This new engine will feature ‘Automatic Stop & Go' technology. The company believes that together with a six-speed manual transmission, this combination will provide high environmental efficiency.
