The recent cold and icy weather has reminded us of the benefits of having four wheel drive or all wheel drive. But it is not just the extremes of the last few weeks that make the All Wheel Drive Volvo XC90 the right vehicle for you and your family. Volvo has trimmed the price for the XC90 4x4 estate car to make it more competitive within the new market.

Volvo has cut almost €11,000 from the price of the XC90, bringing the price down to €58,421 before delivery charges.

The Volvo 5 cylinder diesel engine is a low emission unit fitted with particle filters as standard to reduce soot and other harmful emissions associated with diesel engines. With 185bhp and 400 Nm of torque as standard in the XC90, it compares well with most of the 4x4 competition. But if you want extra power, there is an upgrade available from your local Volvo Dealer or Service Centre. Costing €650 + VAT, it boosts the power output by 11 per cent to 205bhp and the torque by 12.5 per cent to 450 Nm.

It can be fitted from new or retrofitted back to cars from model year 2006, without impacting on the manufacturer's warranty of other vehicle settings. The Volvo XC90 standard seven-seat arrangement has won many awards and many customers for its simplicity and usability. Even with all seven seats in use, there is a decent amount of luggage space (249 litres with 7 seats; 650 litres with 5 seats and 1,837 litres with second and third rows folded).

The Volvo XC90's electronically controlled All-Wheel Drive system, with Instant Traction, provides fast and effective distribution of traction when on slippery surfaces, be that ice or water. Also fitted as standard is the range of comfort and safety systems, including dual zone climate control, dynamic stability control, roll stability control and whiplash protection to name but four.
