Skoda Karoq gets Sportline and Scout treatments

Wednesday, 15th August, 2018 4:38pm

Following the success of the Sportline trim level for the Superb and Kodiaq models here, Skoda have announced that their latest family member, the Karoq SUV is also set for the Sportline treatment.

The model will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October, with right hand drive models are expected to arrive in Ireland in November.

The Skoda Karoq, introduced in 2017, is the second addition to Skoda's SUV range and carries over the brand’s design language into the compact SUV segment. The compact SUV features new innovative technologies including a virtual cockpit, featured in a Skoda for the very first time.

The Skoda Karoq boasts infotainment features such as Skoda Connect online services which contain online infotainment as well as proactive services such as automatic emergency call.

The Sporty design of the Skoda Karoq Sportline is clear at first glance. Sports bumpers and the exclusive black 18 inch Mytikas alloy wheels create a sporty appearance. The sporty details continue with Sportline badging, tinted windows and black roof rails rounding off the model’s elegant exterior.

The same is true with the interior, which features black sports seats with contrasting silver stitch. The seats are upholstered with revolutionary three-ply air-permeable thermoflux fabric, which brings extra comfort to passengers, especially in summer and the front seats also feature lumbar support.

The multifunction sports steering wheel is covered with perforated black leather, again with silver stitching. Pedals with stainless steel elements, a black headliner and black roof pillars complete the sporty interior.

Irish pricing is yet to be confirmed but additional specifications such as full LED headlights, reversing camera, drive mode select and interior ambient lighting are expected to be standard equipment. Irish pricing is set to be announced before the Paris Motor Show in October with Irish vehicles set to arrive in November.

Meanwhile, there’s the Karoq Scout, which gets a powerful off-road design to emphasise the model’s optimised off-road potential. With its rough terrain package, the Skoda Karoq Scout is fully prepared for demanding trips.

As the only variant of the compact SUV available exclusively with all-wheel drive, Skoda offers three efficient and environmentally friendly engines for the Karoq Scout.

In addition to a 1.5 TSI petrol engine with 110 kW (150 hp) in combination with a 7-speed DSG, two diesel engines are also available: the 2.0 TDI with 110 kW (150 hp) comes with a manual 6-speed gearbox as standard; a 7-speed DSG is available as an option. In the most powerful Skoda Karoq Scout, the 2.0 TDI delivers 140 kW (190 hp) and is coupled with a 7-speed DSG as standard.

With its chrome and silver-coloured bodywork elements, striking wheel arch linings and anthracite, polished 18 inch Braga alloy wheels, the Skoda Karoq Scout sports a robust appearance.

As an option, Skoda also offers anthracite 19 inch Crater alloy wheels. Tinted windows and Scout logos on the front mudguards round off the powerful look.

In the interior, the seats feature newly designed covers with black-brown contrasting seams.

The multifunction leather steering wheel, pedals with stainless steel elements and an LED package that includes ambient lighting complete the extensive range of standard equipment.
