The drug bust came as part of a joint operation between gardaí from stations in Fermoy and Portlaoise. During the search, gardaí discovered about 320 cannabis plants. These plants have an approx. street value of €250,000.

Three males, aged 38, 51 and 55 years, were arrested and detained at Fermoy, Cobh and Mallow Garda stations under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended.

All three appeared before a Special Sitting of Mallow District Court on Monday. Judge Waters said that the three men were to attend Fermoy District Court on Friday 21 April. No application for bail was made on Monday but a Garda spokesperson confirmed that one will be made on Friday.
