Laya City Spectacular is in town!

Wednesday, 12th July, 2017 5:43pm

Calling all kids, families, foodies and pets!

Laya Healthcare’s annual City Spectacular will be held on 15-16 July in Fitzgerald’s Park.

The totally free event is from 12-8pm and will showcase the best in international street performance and international street food.

Fun for every member of the family (including four-legged ones) is offered through interactive activities and a pet wellness area from the DSPCA.

In the family health, fitness and wellbeing area, the Greatest Place on Earth allows children and adults to exercise their inner creative genius.

Dr Osity will present a live body science show focusing on the magic of the body from Imaginosity of Ireland’s Children’s Museum.

Additionally, aspiring architects can create and build their own designs in the Imagination Playground.

Kids will especially enjoy getting to be the person in charge as they put their parents on trial! Depending on the verdict, Kid’s Court will either allow children to punish their parents with a pie-in-the-face or an ice water bath.

There will also be performances from the magician Billy Kidd, the 10ft unicyclist Amazing Mr Fish, USA Breakdancers straight from the Bronx, the Canadian Monsters of Schlock and Coney Island’s freak show frontman Donny Thomas with Hollywood’s Showgirl of the Sideshow, Miss Frankie Sin.

DSPCA’s and Purina’s PET-acular will allow visitors to receive dog training advice and see dog agility demonstrations.

Additionally, pets can be microchipped for €15 with photo ID and utility bill.

All of that exercise and excitement will definitely make you hungry.

Attendees can visit Just Eat Street, the international street food village in the Rose Garden to choose from over 15 different international cuisines. There’s also a waiter service to take and deliver food orders.

The Cork Independent is proud to be a media for this year’s festival.
