DANCE TO THE RHYTHM

The Mall Arts Centre in Youghal welcomes American all-female super group, Cherish the Ladies, on Saturday 12 August at 8pm.

WORLD AFFAIRS

The Kinsale Peace Project, in association with Trócaire, is hosting a free event on Saturday 12 August to give insight into the Gaza conflict.

Speakers are Tania Hary, an Israelite, and Mohammed Azaiza, a Palestinian, who are members of an NGO Gisha peace organisation.

PICTURE PERFECT

Art Graffiti in Cork, a photography exhibition of Azem Koleci's work, is on display in Douglas Library. Azem will host a free photography workshop on Saturday 26 August at 11am as part of Cork Heritage Week.

BLAST FROM THE PAST

The annual Cork Coal Quay Family Festival will be held in Cork city on 19 August.

Dress in traditional garb and join characters of yesteryear from 12-5.30pm to celebrate the Coal Quay’s vibrant heritage.

FIT AND FAB

A fun day of fitness and wellbeing activities for the whole family takes place on Sunday 20 August from 10am-5pm in Ballincollig's Regional Park.

IN REMEMBRANCE

Members of the public are invited to pay their respects to the victims of An Gorta Mór at a commemorative ceremony on Sunday 27 August at 2pm.

The event marks the 170th year since the infamous Black '47 and takes place at the site of the mass grave on Carr's Hill, on the Douglas to Carrigaline road.

Due to the narrow roadway, people are encouraged to use a special bus that will collect people outside Cork City Hall at 1pm and return to the city following ceremonies. Contact Tony on 087-9305067 to book a seat.

GOTTA RUN

Glounthaune Community Association is hosting a four-mile road race on 30 August.

The event starts at 7pm, with a 600m youths race held at 7.05pm. Walkers can join in on the fun at 6.50pm. Registration is from 5-6.45pm opposite the Glounthaune Church.

SING YOUR HEART OUT

The Dennehy’s Cross Church Choir resumes full-time activities in three weeks. Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 8-10pm for the Sunday Mass services at 10.30am. New members are welcome. If interested, contact Michael at 087-2333111.
