It was a clean sweep of results for Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál student Elaine McGee.

Upon opening her results yesterday in Blarney, Elaine learned that she had received a grade of H-1 in all seven of her exam subjects. Elaine studied Irish, English, Maths, French, Geography, Biology and Chemistry but says she had not anticipated doing as well as she did.

Speaking yesterday, she said: “It was a complete shock. The hard work from all the teachers was a lot of it.”

Regarding the new points system used this year, Elaine said: “I suppose it was kind of uncertain really with the new system, but it worked out in the end. I think it worked for a lot of people. I’m hoping to do Medicine in UCC next year."

Students hoping to attend third level education in September will have to wait until Monday when CAO offers are made available.
